La Terra degli Aranci is an enchanting estate nestled in the greenery of Naples, between the hills of Vomero and Posillipo—an ideal venue for unforgettable receptions surrounded by nature.
The estate is distinguished by its expansive outdoor spaces, spanning 6,000 square meters of panoramic gardens, groves, and gentle meadows, perfect for leisurely strolls among orange and lemon trees. It’s a magical and unexpected oasis within the city, just a few steps away from the heart of Vomero.
La Terra degli Aranci is a place steeped in history, where the beauty of nature and the allure of a distant past come together in perfect harmony.
Located on the Vomero hill, with a breathtaking view of the Bay of Naples, this peaceful oasis traces its origins back to 1874, as evidenced by a carved piperno stone with the inscription ‘PAV 1874’ discovered in the garden.
A historic place
The Origins
At that time, the estate was part of the Curia’s holdings, covering vast areas of cultivated hills. The true transformation, however, occurred in the first half of the 20th century when the estate was purchased by a private company.
Under the company’s management, the estate blossomed into a thriving orchard, carefully tended by a farmer who made the farmhouse his home.
This farmer brought the land to life, turning it into a productive and vibrant space. The farmhouse’s ground floor housed stables and a cellar with a wine press, while a tufa stone cistern collected rainwater, ensuring a steady water supply.
The structure, built from yellow Neapolitan tuff and featuring expansive supporting vaults, became enveloped in the majestic ivy that still covers the villa’s perimeter today, giving it a fairytale-like allure.
A Family Story
In the late 1990s, after a period of neglect following an unsuccessful attempt by the company to redevelop the area into underground parking, La Terra degli Aranci had fallen into disrepair. It was at this point that the Sola family, driven by a bold vision and a deep love for the history of the place, decided to step in.
Led by the determination of Annamaria and Bruno, with the help of their sons Paola and Roberto, the family embarked on a lengthy and complex restoration project. This endeavour was not just an architectural and landscaping effort, but also a heartfelt tribute to the past and to the nature surrounding the estate.
Every detail, every stone, has been carefully restored, with respect for the environment and a commitment to preserving the historical essence of the site. The ancient natural elements and the architectural layout have been brought back to their original beauty, transforming La Terra degli Aranci into a place of rare harmony between man and nature.
Today, thanks to the dedication and ongoing efforts of the owners and their valued collaborators, La Terra degli Aranci has once again become a gem in the city of Naples.
